The Hedgers’ Ledger
The weekly release, in two parts: the markets where the commercial book sits at the edge of its own three-year range, and then the hedging program — the markets whose net crossed the midpoint of its own trailing six-month range that week. Both straight from the CFTC report. The written notes run in The Weekly Tape.
The second half reports the change, not the state. A commercial book that has sat at one extreme for months is usually a producer with a crop to sell rather than news, so only the crossings are listed — which makes a quiet week a short issue that says so, instead of a long one padded with unchanged rows. The measure behind both halves, a net read against its own range, is described in the three-signal read.
